File Preparation
Great decals start with great files. Follow these guidelines for the sharpest print. Every file is reviewed for quality before it goes to print, and a digital proof is always available.
Accepted file formats
JPG, PNG, TIFF, SVG, EPS, AI and PDF. Not sure your file will work? Contact us before you order.
Resolution
- Files should be 300 dpi at the actual print size. Low resolution files lose quality when enlarged.
- Screenshots and web images are usually too low resolution to enlarge.
- Upsizing a file won't add quality. The resolution has to be 300 dpi when the image is taken or created.
Taking a good photo
- Use a camera set to its highest resolution (10 megapixels or more). Send the original, unedited file.
- Fill the frame with your subject.
- If we're removing the background, keep the whole subject in frame. Don't crop off feet, hands or the tops of heads.
- Use soft, natural light and avoid harsh shadows.
Size limits
Custom artwork can be up to 48" wide. Larger projects are printed as a multi-panel mural with a 1" overlap between panels for seamless installation.
Color mode
- Color artwork: CMYK
- Black and white artwork: grayscale
Fonts
In PDF, EPS and AI files, embed or outline your fonts. If a font can't be embedded because of licensing restrictions, rasterize the text.
Logos
- Best: vector files (PDF, EPS, AI or SVG). Vectors enlarge to any size with no loss of quality.
- Next best: a 300 dpi JPG, PNG or PDF.
- Only have a low resolution logo? Add Logo / Vector Enhancement to your order and we'll recreate it as a high resolution vector. You'll get a PDF copy for your records.
Saving your files
- Save at the highest quality setting.
- JPG and PNG: 300 dpi at print size.
- PDF, EPS, AI and SVG: outline or embed fonts and paths.
