The other day, I received an email from a client asking how to use our decals in trade shows, and which kinds of displays we recommend that are lightweight and portable. I thought that was an excellent question, as it’s one we receive all the time from our customers at Wallmonkeys who attend trade shows as part of their business, and so I decided to address this subject in today’s blog post.
In this article, I will discuss two easy and portable displays that work best with our decals: banner stands and pop-up panels, along with how to display your decals on each.
Banner stands are one of the most popular trade show displays. They are portable, lightweight, and easy to install. Banner stands also come in a variety of sizes to best suit the graphics you want to display, and some models can be used as both a tabletop or floor display. Best of all, banner stands are very affordable and won’t break your budget!
If you choose to use removable decals with a banner stand, there are a couple ways to achieve this. The first method is to simply leave the backing paper on your decals, and attach the entire sheet to the banner stand. This is ideal if you are swapping graphics often between shows, or you are simply looking for a more affordable alternative to fabric banners. Another method is to apply the decal to a smooth surface already attached to the banner stand. We recommend this technique if you prefer a sturdier surface for your banner.
Pop-up panels, or pop-up displays, are another common trade show display. Pop-up displays get their name from the fact that they “pop-up” from their spring-loaded display case. Similar to banner stands, pop-up displays are also portable and easy to set up. Depending on the size of your panel, assembly can take as quickly as 5 minutes, and even larger-sized panels are ready in less than an hour! Pop-up displays can also cover large areas as long as 20 feet, making them ideal if your company has rented a large booth space.
Using removable decals are easy with pop-up displays. After the panels are assembled, you now have a blank canvas to display your graphics. Pop-up displays are ideal for step and repeat backgrounds, or large murals. If you are using fabric-based decals such as Photo-Tex, you may even use them on curved panels!
For large murals and step and repeats, the decals will be printed as large, separate tiles. You will need at least two people to install the mural.

The decals will be ready to use again for the next trade show!
